Event entrepreneurs Jonathan Weiner and Stefan Weitz have announced plans to refocus their newly acquired Nest Campus (formerly known as The Nest Climate Campus).
Weiner, recently named in Skift Meetings’ 2025 Power Rankings, cut his teeth in payments startups before a stint at Google Wallet, moving on to create Money20/20, Shoptalk, HLTH, and ViVE, and to co-found HumanX alongside Weitz, a former Microsoft executive.
The Nest Campus, which will take place September 22–24 at the Javits Center in New York City during Climate Week NYC, is positioning itself as the “the Premier Marketplace for the Resilience Economy.”
“The Nest Campus is sharpening its focus to deliver actionable strategies and insights to all stakeholders across the resilience ecosystem,” said Peter Gilmer, an early team member at the Web Summit who led some of the event’s sustainability and climate change initiatives, has been tapped to serve as CEO. In a post on LinkedIn, he announced that organizers will be making “some big announcements” in the coming days and weeks.
The three-day summit is known for its co-hosted events with organizations ranging from Ceres to the Music Sustainability Alliance, and a diverse roster of speakers from the corporate and nonprofit sectors. Author and Climate Scientist Kate Marvel; Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse; and Jeff Gitterman, a leader in the climate-focused investing field, were last year’s keynote speakers. Organizers expect to attract more than 8,000 attendees this year.
The original event, The Nest Summit, was founded in 2019 by a coalition of organizations, including The Javits Center, NYC & Company, and The Climate Group, under the leadership of Britton Jones, founder and CEO of NXT Events Media Group.
The deal was backed by Weiner and Weitz’s SilverCircle, a venture capital firm investing in AI, fintech, and health.
